The Poorman’s Road Warriors: Demolition

I think it’s safe to say that Demolition was a watered down S&M version of The Road Warriors. Everything from their look to their wrestling style was trying to be the Legion of Doom. However, Demolition did have one bad ass theme song performed by Rick Derringer. I’m not trying to take anything way from Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow, both guys have had a great career in wrestling. I will always have a special place in my heart for the Repo Man, but I’m just saying there is only one Legion of Doom. Even look at the finishing move names: Doomsday Device vs. Demolition Decapitation, but everyone around the world should agree that the Doomsday Device is by far a cooler move.

Also, Demolition kind of ripped off Hawk’s tongue gimmick too. The Road Warriors were often imitated, but never duplicated. That’s why they will forever be “The World’s Greatest Tag Team” (sorry Haas and Benjamin, but it’s true).

I would also like to point out a few things about the third member of Demolition, Crush. God rest his soul, but he become a poorman’s Hawaiian Brutus Beefcake after he left Demolition. It doesn’t stop there, after “Kona Crush” he became just “Crush”. His new gimmick was a Japanese sympathizer that wore makeup that looked a lot like Road Warrior Hawk. It always comes back to The Road Warriors
